Being a high roller is something that not everyone can succeed at. Because it takes more than a big bankroll and betting big to be one. There are few things you need to do to be successful as a high roller and I will give you a few tips on how to make a nice profit on a regular basis. First of all, you need to understand that it’s not all fun and games to bet big, there are stressful moments and you need to know when to stop playing and when to raise the stakes. In order to properly assess the situation, you have to be rested and focused, so make sure you never play when you are tired or stressed. This actually goes for all types of players, but most of all for high rollers, for obvious reasons.
Another important thing to remember is to never play when you are upset or distracted because you need your mind to be clear and focused. You can imagine that a clouded mind could make some really poor choices and we don’t want that, especially when playing for high stakes. Also, remember to stick to what you are good at and improve your strategy, instead of being all over the place and trying all games. If you are good at playing roulette, then sit at one, no matter land-based or online, and work your magic. Don’t start betting at everything you lay your eyes on, this will only confuse you. If on the other hand, you are the king of card games, choose one game – be it poker, blackjack or baccarat, and play just that for a simple reason – this will give you a better overview of your lucky streak. Speaking of which, once you feel that your luck is running out, stand up, take a break, make some coffee, drink a glass of whisky, whatever it takes, just take a break from betting. Once you are relaxed and rested, only then start again.
Never bet big on new games or games that you are unfamiliar with, for the simple reason that you don’t know it as well as you should and mistakes could cost you a lot. A friend of mine – also sort of a high roller, suddenly decided he can play Mini Texas one night. Oh, was that ever a bad idea, it hurt to watch him really. He would play cards that he should have folded, raising even when he had nothing still. That little experiment cost him around £300,000, which he then quickly won back at the roulette table. See what I mean? Stick to what you are good at, or, if you are going to experiment, at least, learn the game really well first.
